Al Capone Shot Glass
This glass came directly from the estate of Al Capone
(Mario Gomes Collection)
These apéritif / shot glasses were going to be sold in the big Al Capone estate auction held by Witherell's. While the auction house were appraising them, the ever thoughtful and kind Diane Capone thought of me and author John Binder.
Her sister Barbara gave her kind nod of agreement, and I was bestowed the honor of being the caretaker of one of these cherished items!
Diane kept one, she gave one to John Binder and the other two to her sons.
Diane stated "You are now part of the Al Capone shot glass club!"
After Al Capone's prison term, he avoided drinking altogether due to the medication he had been taking for his illness.
A shot from Al Capone! How great is that?
A shot of whiskey at 9:00 AM for this photo? Yep! Anything for Al and his fans!

The glass is adorned with an etching of wheat and grapes. Besides beer, wine, and champagne, Al Capone
also enjoyed Italian apéritifs like Grappa, Limoncello, Amaretto etc......

Saluti! Enjoying a fine cigar and a cognac in one of Al's shot glasses.

This lovely heartfelt present was sent to me by the kindness of Diane and Barbara Capone.
I will be indebted to them forever!
