The funny thing about Mt.Carmel is that most gangsters that are rivals are buried together.

In 2008, Ralph Capone Sr.'s (Al Capone's brother "Bottles") ashes were finally returned to the Capone family and interred at Mt. Carmel. He is now reunited with his mom, dad, brothers and sister, but more importantly with his son Ralph Jr.

Joe Aiello's final resting place.His burial has eluded many top Chicago gangland researchers and historians,but this site is the first to show his mausoleum.
Aiello is buried in Riverside Cemetary ,Rochester, New York.

One of three bludgeoned to death by baseball bat at the personal hands of Al Capone for conspiring along with Alberto Anselmi and Giovanni(John) Scalise to kill Capone and take over the outfit. He was named Hoptoad for his fancy moves on the dance floor.

"Big Jim" James Colosimo

42nd gang "The patch" gang member and once supposed wheel man for Al Capone.Always in the limelight and attracted too much publicity he fled to Mexico and returned only to be whacked by his own outfit after trying to regain power.

Edwin Harmening Cook County highway patrolman and close associate of the Ralph Sheldon gang murdered Dec. 22, 1925, along with "Dynamite Joe"Brooks. Celtic cross directly behind headstone is that of the McErlane's, quite possibly the killers of Harmening and Joe Brooks.(Very Ironic)!

Frank Rio alias "Frankie Rio" ," Frank Cline " Kline"
Capone's faithful bodyguard and companion. Did time with Al in Philedephia and saved Al on numerous attacks and even foiled a plot to kill him.
Died of  pneumonia in 1935 aged 40.

Louis "Little New York" Campagna  was a faithful Capone bodyguard who often slept on a cot outside Capone's room at the Lexington Hotel.

These following gravesites come to us through the kindness and courtesy of Mr. Josh Perry, who did a marathon of Chicago grave hunting.
Not to discouraged by the unhelpfulness of the staff at some cemetaries, he came up with the following treasure trove of gangster's final resting places.


Joseph "Joey Doves" Aiuppa at Queen of Heaven. Took over Capone's old Hawthorne hotel that later became Towne Hotel and Restaurant. Involved in gambling rackets and enjoyed big game hunting.
